FIRST appointed as Official Publisher for the 21st World Petroleum Congress

9th September 2013

The World Petroleum Council has appointed the London-based publisher FIRST to produce the Official Publication of the 21st World Petroleum Congress. Held in Moscow, Russia from the 15-19 June, the 21st WPC will be the highlight of the oil and gas calendar in 2014.

Reflecting the theme of the Congress – Responsibly Energising a Growing World – the Official Publication of the 21st World Petroleum Congress will examine the strategic issues facing the oil and gas sector with case studies and commentary from a distinguished panel of CEOs, government officials and energy experts. Covering the key topics of cooperation, innovation and investment to be discussed at the Congress, it will provide a valuable reference source for delegates attending the event as well as for the more than 65 National Member Committees of the World Petroleum Council, who represent over 95% of the world’s major oil and gas producing and consuming countries.

“We are pleased to appoint the award-winning specialist publisher FIRST to deliver a world-class publication for the participants of the 21st World Petroleum Congress, which highlights the WPC’s important role in tackling the key issues facing the global oil and gas industry though dialogue and thought leadership”, said the Director-General of the World Petroleum Council, Dr Pierce Riemer.

The editorial team will be led by David Buchan, the well-respected journalist, industry analyst and author of Energy and Climate Change: Europe at the Crossroads and The Rough Guide to the Energy Crisis.
“I am delighted that FIRST has been selected as the Official Publisher of the 21st World Petroleum Congress. Given the importance of the Congress to the oil and gas industry, and the significance of energy to the global economy, this represents an excellent opportunity to continue our work with the WPC and create an official publication of real and lasting value,” said Rupert Goodman, Chairman of FIRST.
