Rupert Goodman and Lord Hurd comment on Second Queen’s Award for Enterprise awarded to FIRST

23rd April 2013

FIRST, the international affairs organisation and publisher of specialist periodicals, text books and special reports and producer of high level events, awards, mobile applications and cartographic services has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2013, the second time in three years. Founded twenty-eight years ago, FIRST covers over sixty countries and has increased overseas sales by 217% over the past three years. FIRST was also the recipient of The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2010.

Rupert Goodman, Chairman and Founder of FIRST, commented:

“We are delighted to receive The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2013 which highlights FIRST’s recent international growth record and recognises our continued success in international markets and promoting international trade and investment.  FIRST’s mission to promote strategic dialogue between leaders in industry, finance and Government has become increasingly relevant given current global economic and political instability.  FIRST’s ‘Responsible Capitalism’ initiative has also helped global policy makers focus on the moral structure of capitalism.”

Lord Hurd of Westwell, former Foreign Secretary and Chairman of the FIRST Advisory Council said:

“I am delighted that FIRST has won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in recognition of its impressive growth in international markets during a period of considerable global economic uncertainty.  It is especially pleasing that FIRST, a world leading specialist publisher and international affairs organisation, has won this prestigious Award for the second time, having also been a recipient in 2010.”
